READER COMMENTS:

Come along with author Max Courson as he explores the hilarious, oftentimes

side-splittingly farfetched exploits of Annie, a happy-go-lucky hooker, and the narrator, a sarcastic and jaded college boy.  These tales will make your eyes goggle and your brain race to keep up with Annie and her stable of amusing and over-the-top stories.

Who says I don't have an open mind? I like to read stuff out of my genre all of the time--and this one is way out. Say hello to Pulpwood Annie.

Max Courson has penned what is essentially a group of tied-together short stories about a prostitute in Georgia via a "smart aleck college guy," as Max calls him. In fact, several chapters won various writing awards.   And this grouping has become the engaging and funny THE PULPWOOD ANNIE CHRONICLES. The reader gets to learn all of Annie's "goings-on" and finds out why our college friend keeps buying her beer.

This book is a smile-maker, even in its ability to be risque--it is sexy and anti-sexy at the same time. The vignettes are tasty and Courson knows his way around a turn of phrase....

ANNIE is a keeper--or a book you will pass on to friends glowingly. The only reason I imagine this book wasn't published by one of the big houses was that they couldn't figure out what shelf to put it on. And that's a shame.

This book is a good read for college students.  It’s easy to relate to the “smart-aleck college guy.”  Most young adults tend to wise off to authority at some point….  The book flows well, and it’s a quick and easy read.  For a busy college student, it’s nice to relax after a long day and read something that’s humorous, yet contains some deep notions about society.

----Gary McCabe, Greenville, North Carolina

The East Carolinian, East Carolina University

"Indeed it was quite a bipolar experience to read the discourses between Annie and the smart-alecky college guy.  The author demonstrates (that) a sophisticated vocabulary can indeed be applied to the most carnal pleasures.  Funny and graphical, this book has a great ending.  This is Max’s first fiction.

----Famous Quotes

“What a dry sense of humor the college boy has. I found myself smiling as I read. There is a witty vulgarity to it that entertained and kept me flipping the pages. Annie is one full-of-personality character.”

----Shannon Greenland, Fernandina Beach, Florida
Author of DISCOVERING VERONICA &

“Hilarious and captivating. THE PULPWOOD ANNIE CHRONICLES keep the reader in suspense for each of Annie’s grand adventures. She lives with a sexual freeness most women can only dream of.”

----Jill Flores, Tampa, Florida

“Maxwell Taylor Courson’s use of descriptive prose is as effective as the master artist’s brush. The characters are vividly portrayed, and the action keeps you laughing and hungry for more. This story moves, and the characters are real. It is clearly written yet intricately compelling. The plot leaves you wondering what is next.”

----Sharon K. McCullough, Newark, Ohio

"Wickedly tasteful and delightfully humorous, The Pulpwood Annie Chronicles exude Southern charm with witty insight on the newest of college students befriending a lady of the oldest profession. "

----Melinda Riley, Columbus, Ohio

“Clever small town characterizations that made me laugh aloud and remember my rural upbringing. Great twist at the end…everything seemed to work out in its own strange way.”
